iPod 16GB touch - Wow iPod
We bought iPod 16GB touch for our daughter who is only 8 years old and wasn't sure whether it was too advanced for her - how mistaken were we. It is absolutely brilliant, really easy to use and manage as our daughter is a wizz at it already. Her review would be 'Fantastico'!

iPod 16GB touch - No pause
In many ways iPod 16GB touch is an excellent product but as an audio player it really needs a pause button. Imagine that you want to turn off the audio to cross the street: you need to remove player from your bag or pocket, take it out of its case/sleeve, press the home button, look for the unlock slide, remove gloves, slide open the lock and finally you can pause the player.
Previous ipods had a pause function on the clickwheel which allowed you to pause the player by touch alone without even removing it from your pocket (or taking off your gloves). How difficult would it have been to put a pause key next to the volume rocker?

iPod 16GB touch - On the whole, an excellent piece of kit
I've only 2 things to say against this iPod: -
1. The headphone socket is in the wrong place. It's on the bottom whereas it should be on the top.
2. It's not loud enough. My iPod Mini is much better in noisy situations.
Other than this, it's an astonishing machine - video playback is brilliant, the quality of the sound on docking stations is very good indeed, photo display is excellent, wireless connectivity is really good and it's cheaper now that it was when I bought mine !! Bonus !!
Buy with confidence

iPod 16GB touch - No good for playing music
I bought one of these and gave it to my wife within three days.
Ok, iPod 16GB touch is a great gadget but I just couldn't live with the sound quality. I have excellent Shure E4C earphones and even they couldn't breathe any life into the sound of the iPod. It is terrible. I can't believe Apple can make such a great gadget (and it really is good in so many ways) and fail SO badly on the one thing that it shouldn't - playing music.
I'm now back with my five year old Sony mp3 player and loving it. The sound is truly great, I can change tracks with the unit still in my pocket, and I feel bad about having had my head turned by the bells and whistles of the iPod world. Never again. A stupid and expensive mistake.
If you are even remotely serious about music, avoid iPods at all costs. If you want bells and whistles and 'apps' and don't really care about music, I'm sure you'll like it.
